The Venue

King’s Manor dates back to the 12th century, when it housed the abbots of St. Mary’s Abbey. Its rich history features several Kings of England – Henry VIII named it the seat of the Council of the North, until its abolition in 1641. During the 17th century, the Stuarts regularly stayed at King’s Manor during their travels around the country. Throughout the years, King’s Manor has seen many extensions and alterations, including the addition of a second courtyard. Today, the Manor is used by the University of York’s archaeology and medieval studies departments. In addition to providing a beautiful space for weddings, it has also housed conferences and meetings.

When planning your wedding, it is useful to know that the manor can accommodate up to 120 buffet guests and 90 for a formal wedding breakfast.
