ABOUT THE LODGE AND SURROUNDING NATURE
Set in the heart of Costa Rica rain forest on the coasts of Golfo Dulce, across from Osa Peninsula and Corcovado, Playa Cativo is a new luxury eco lodge offering exquisite accommodations in true harmony with nature. This Costa Rican hideaway is accessible only by boat and its design compliments the surrounding rain forest, its stunning grounds and its oceanfront setting. Our Way of Life: In Playa Cativo, we are passionate about what we do. Every detail is important, as we strive for excellence.
We are a team with a culture that embraces a common goal reflected in the flow of memorable experiences for our guests.
Piedras Blancas National Park: With its 35,000 acres of tropical rain forest, Piedras Blancas National Park, a former extension of the nearby Corcovado National Park (in the Osa Peninsula), protects some of the last remaining stretches of undisturbed lowland primary (or old growth) rain forest in Central America. Of all the land-based ecosystems in the world, tropical lowland rain forests are the most biologically diverse and serve as a refuge for many threatened species. The Park surrounding Playa Cativo is a critical last stand for an estimated 750 species of trees, 140 species of mammals, 367 species of birds (with a number of species endemic to the region), 117 species of reptiles, and almost 10,000 species of insects. Playa Cativo’s idyllic location is accentuated by the absence of neighbors, other than the Park itself. The boundaries of our over 1,000-acre private reserve are rocky points and ridge tops encircling a mile of pristine beach front, closed off from the mainstream world.
