Chrissy Ratcliffe Civil Celebrant wedding story - I married my 2nd cousin in 2013 and didn't know it until now!! :-)
This is a goose bump moment....It's certainly worth the read, what are the chances of me marrying my 2nd cousin and not knowing it until today. I now have family in Australia that I didn't know I had. Thank you John for taking the time to contact me and we will be forever connected. It was delightful to see you and Rebecca again and of course little Joe and cousin Carol from the UK today. I also saw Marie this evening....Facebook worked its magic! Hello Chrissy!! Sorry to contact you on Facebook. You'll remember us - you married my wife Rebecca and I in 2013 at Kewarra Beach. You were such a significant part of our big day! Which we'll never forget.
Well... I just wanted to get in contact with you for a couple of reasons...
Well the marriage is going very well slightsmile emoticon and we now have a beautiful baby boy, Joseph Charles Harris, 6 weeks old today. slightsmile emoticon
The second reason that I wanted to get in touch....now take a deep breath, this is going to be crazy to hear..!!!
So I'm up with our baby Joe, settling him this morning, scrolling down facebook through the posts as you do, and then I come across a comment from one of my Aunties, on someone's facebook page saying "happy birthday cousin" and as I look at the picture...I see you in it..! With your brother Kieran.
So I'm thinking, hang on, my auntie is commenting on a family picture with you in it... And I have to check our wedding photography (that you helped arrange) to validate that it was definitely you in the picture. And it definitely is. Then I check your brother surname.....Hearty (your maiden name)
WE ARE RELATED!!
Didn't we say on our first Skype session, we got on like a house on fire and we both said "we could be related".
My mother died when I was 7, Bernadette, which I believe you actually attended the funeral in England???
My Auntie is Marie Quinn (formerly Hughes)
So my mums mum was Mary Bridget, who I believe was sister to Pat. So we share the same great grandparent.
How crazy!!!!
I believe your brother Kieran was also at our Aunt Theresa 80th birthday and met my brother James.
Too much to take in really.
You are my mums mums brothers daughter!??
