People You Shouldn’t Take Wedding Dress Shopping
Definitely the most important aspect of your wedding, as the bride, is getting your wedding dress. Wedding dress shopping is stressful, in and of itself, and you don’t need other people coming along to stress you up even further. Everyone will want to go with you, but you can’t take everyone with you when going shopping for your wedding dress. Once you have made up your mind about what you want, select those people who will actually help you find what you want, and not people with conflicting thoughts and opinions.
Who Not to Take Bridal Dress Shopping
1) The Know-It-Alls
“Uh, no, I don’t think that color is good for you. “
“Hey, get her something with a corset!”
“Seriously, is that what you are going with? You know that is not flattering right?”
Yes, the know-it-alls. They really don’t care what you want or what your vision of your perfect wedding dress is, because they feel that they know everything about what is best for you. Leave these people behind when going wedding dress shopping.
1) All Your Bridesmaids
There is no point in taking all twelve of your bridesmaids to go dress shopping with you. Things are bound to get messy at the bridal shop. Ever watched the show, Say Yes to the Dress? That is a prime example of why it is not a good idea to take all your bridesmaids with you. Too many opinions; and none may even be in line with what you want.
2) Your Disney-fan Little Nieces and Sisters
These will probably be your flower girls at the wedding, and they will want to see huge, princess-y gowns that you may not be keen on. These girls are bound to make wedding dress shopping difficult for you. Don’t take them with you.
The Jealous Ones
You know there are friends or relatives who claim to be happy for you, but aren’t. You know them the side eyes and the comments behind your back, and the snide remarks they make, ending with “Girl, I was just kidding”. Nope, they weren’t. They are jealous of you, and the fact that you are getting your happily-ever-after before (or after) them. Best to leave them behind.
Your Future Mum-In-Law
If your future mum-in-law is sweet and conservative, or headache-inducing and conservative, please don’t go wedding dress shopping with her.
The Disapproving Relatives
Next to the jealous ones are those that just don’t approve. They can be from either side of the family, and taking them dress shopping with you just to please them won’t help you in anyway. Just like the conservative mum-in-law, they won’t approve of any of your choices. They already don’t approve of the marriage: why should they approve of your bridal gown?
The Groom
He should be the last person to see your dress, and that should be when you are walking down the aisle. Even if you are the best of friends, keep your wedding gown as a surprise for him.
